How are people keeping track of their quarantine provisions? I feel like I should have built out a spreadsheet with dates of purchase and expiration, but so far I have been pretty laissez faire. Herbs have definitely gone bad, but that’s the only food loss I’ve noticed so far

Yeah, I’ve got a lot of canned / dried / frozen food which is good for 6 months-2 years. It’s more that I used to shop for the next couple of days instead of 1-2 weeks at a time.

Gotta do 1-2 weeks at a time I’m afraid. Lower your exposure.

Yeah, I’m doing that, just starting to see more food spoilage and wondering if there are easy / obvious ways people track what needs to be used in next day, few days, 7 days, 14 days. Could plan every meal, but seems excessive

We do ~10 days cycles. Found categorizing is helpful: Meat: immediately freeze them all then eat 1 by 1 as you need. Fruit: eat it for 3-4 days then it runs out until the next round. Dairy: lasts 2 weeks. Pasta/canned: lasts forever.

Apples and oranges last a long time also. Most other fruits 3-4 days sounds like a good plan

We go to Costco. It’s worth it.

Have you seen the videos of costco in NY? I don’t think it’s worth that exposure, but maybe it’s calmed down. Monetarily I’m sure it’s a good call

I haven't dared to go to Trader Joes since the lockdown. I kind expect it to be empty of food and full of people. Any experience?

Nah, I’ve just done online orders and local C-Town or Green Bay in Astoria since like January. When I saw the fights to get into Costco I figured it was better to stick with expensive or cheap places and not the bulk options
