I improved my SATs by 380 points from 7th grade to 12th, i think like 150 from 11th to 12th. Probably easier to study than IQ though

I don't think this is the best counterexample because your brain underwent a huge amount of change over that period, but I think you're directionally right here.

There's definitely an argument against IQ as being a good measure of intelligence.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend the Taleb piece on it. It was a gamechanger for me.

I’ve read several of his books but just can’t stand his attitude and approach. He’s guilty of many of the same things he poo-poos in other people imho. Like a “me” problem though.

He's obnoxious (I've been blocked, then muted by him - not saying I'm not obnoxious haha), but I think his wisdom is just so good that I ignore it and just focus on the good he provides.

Sounds like a good philosophy in dealing with everyone in life, too!

FWIW, I think he’s great when he’s in his element though his practice of using confusing language is PRECISELY what pseudo-intellectuals do.Feynman had it right about the truly gifted use simple language. Outside of his element, watch out.

What's an example of him being out of his element and getting it wrong? I seriously have tried to find an example of him being wrong about something and have consistently failed. Many claimed he was out of his element with COVID but he nailed it.

It’s usually a here-or-there tweet. I’m not good at pulling out examples like that except by going back and researching them. I usually just remember the conclusion (like for this!). I don’t think he nailed the COVID though reading the one-pager he coauthored.

And who really cares what I think about him anyway. He certainly doesn’t!
