3 problems with scale:
- Interconnectedness (eg
spreads fast)
- Less skin in the game (some behaviors can only be policed when those hurt are close enough to physically or metaphorically slap those harming them)
- Synchronicity (everyone copies the shortcuts used by others)
If there is a problem with scale, it is simple: It increases the magnitude of the outcome, both good and bad. I think the three things you listed are not as correlated with scale as they might seem. Small things can be interconnected i.e. a single coronavirus patient.

You can have sitg with scale. Linux is an example. Finally, small organisms also engage in synchronicity as I understand it. Scale is neither good nor bad. It’s can be both depending on the circumstances.
