No butter in the recipe: all purpose flour, gluten flour, water, yeast, sugar, oil, salt

Why no butter?

Added some after to eat. Just following recipes. Rarely see it in the recipe othet than sometimes on top for a shiny crust

I don't know anything about baking but I'd swap it with the oil in the recipe.

I wouldn’t, although it’s delicious in some cooking. The milk fat has pretty significant impact on baking in my experience. I used coconut oil, and turned out well.

I’ve now read more about it and seems to be a debate. I’ll try butter next time with same recipe and see what I find

To be fair, first good bread may have some nostalgia impact, will try to keep that in mind as well
