Ummm... because we'd ideally like some means of comparing the effectiveness of different approaches, for starters?
There are so many other countries outside of china that have big problems that we can look to for that. China lies about the numbers. They, at gov't level, lie about what they're doing. It's just a giant headache. Now, before you paint me as an American jingoist (I read minds),
