One of my close friends works in this industry and it’s currently a disaster in Manhattan. No logical explanation why @NYGovCuomo and @NYCMayor are allowing construction companies to endanger the health of tens of thousands of New Yorkers on non-essential construction projectshttps://twitter.com/galeabrewer/status/1243180560236896258 …

With proper equipment and measures (ie no close contact) construction can absolutely continue. Construction is done in open air. We don’t want to shut down more of the economy than is necessary. Dont get me wrong, govt has shit the bed, but this is logical.

The problem is the measures are not being followed in many cases -- and in some, being intentionally flouted.

I believe that. Our government is failing us. That said, construction should remain on the essential list. There should just be sensible rules in place and good enforcement, which we seem not to have.

Replying to @Molson_Hart @DelRey and
Some, not all, construction is done in open air and as a former construction worker I can tell you that safety is rarely a priority. Worker after worker touching the same tools, materials, surfaces, etc., using the same port-a-johns. Sensible rules mean nothing on most job sites.

Good points, but construction by itself is pretty dangerous. I think open-air construction ought to continue.
