Insane how there are so many masks in corporate and private hands. Hospitals are literally reusing masks! Governments that have emergency powers need to use them to collect all non-emergency masks and give them to hospitals.https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-outbreak-03-21-20-intl-hnk/h_afce242d11bb7e68c2ec1821dd6946a2 …

This whole thing is government's fault. Using emergency powers to seize masks would, besides being a completely unnecessary fuck-you to private business, do more harm than good. Gov't and hospitals don't know how to get masks. Private biz does. Get the FDA/CDC out of the way!

It's not unnecessary. Hospitals are on the front lines of a crucial public health battle. If hospital workers get sick, we can't fight the disease. This happened in Wuhan when many doctors were infected.

There are limited masks. In the medium run they will be mass produced by businesses, in the short term they must be rationed. Individual citizens and businesses don't need them as much.

Regulatory is getting in the way. Trust me. I can get masks. Agencies of government are mandating that they be taa compliant. There is no need for regulations on hospital masks. Hospitals can make their own literally life and death decisions. Look at how trash our govt has been

And the solution is to have them do more? No way.

You are right in that regulation and red tape that is unnecessary needs to be cut immediately. Nothing can be more crucial. The house-bill that was passed on Wednesday made it so that hospitals could use N95 face masks that were produced for industrial use.

If more regulation can be cut so hospitals can use masks that are effective it needs to be done.

Word - let's start there before we go around seizing public property. Everyone would just hide their masks anyways. It'd be chaos. Worth a read:https://twitter.com/Molson_Hart/status/1240812051628515330 …

Molson Hart @Molson_HartA friend and I were going to import a mask making machine to Texas and start making masks. You know why we aborted that? Fear of regulation. Could we get approval? Would government hold prices down, preventing profits? The other big worry was America’s decrepit supply chain. https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1240811029808001024 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

And Taiwan's response, which I think I already sent you, show's how we should be doing this. Our government man...shameful.
