I finally figured out why there is a DTC e-commerce twitter, but no Amazon twitter and I feel dumb. No one wants to talk Amazon publicly for fear of suspension! (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I almost NEVER see people talking Amazon here)https://twitter.com/couuor/status/1235669659292073984 …

I would say that but as well, the Amazon sellers I know are much more closefisted with their business. The difference in sharing from an MDS event to an E-Comm Fuel Event is huge. AMZ sellers won't talk about the products they are selling. Why would they share other stuff?

That's a good point. Products on DTC are more differentiated (and thus have less fear of competition) and significantly less susceptible to black-hat competition.

Ya for sure. The black hat stuff is a huge issue for a lot of sellers. Also, copy cats. I'll talk DTC on Amazon b/c people can't copy my products / marketing But if I sold me-too products on AMZ, I wouldn't tell anyone

Agree? 1. Differentiated product/Amazon: Scared of Amazon, not competition. 2. Differentiated product/Shopify: Not scared. 3. Undifferentiated product/Amazon: Scared of Amazon, not competition. 4. Undifferentiated product/Shopify: Scared of competition. Only 2 talks.

I agree. Only thing I'd change is: 3. Undifferentiated product/Amazon: Scared of Amazon *AND* competition.

4, to your point, is super rare. The marketing/branding is almost always differentiating.
