I don't think there's a quick and easy answer to your question. First, it's worth noting that other countries have implemented export bans on masks, so we're left with domestic manufacturers. It's not free market, but we probably need to export ban ourselves, especially if we,
don't free float prices and other countries do. People may hoard. It's unclear how fast domestic manufacturers could get funding to expand production. I don't like government stepping in either, but it makes me sense to me here, assuming government competence (big if).
