I don’t think Bloomberg is running a real campaign to be president. It seems he’s just running so he can spend whatever he wants, circumventing campaign finance laws, in an effort to attack Trump. Maybe gunning for VP? Good divestment opportunity...https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/michael-bloomberg-trump-2020-election-polls-democratic-primary-a9264576.html …
It’s a deferral. Also, there are more effective ways to do it. He could get the same thing done for much less if he just made large campaign contributions on the condition that he is nominated to a post after election https://blogs.nvcc.edu/jgale/files/2015/09/Tax-Planning-for-Federal-Appointees-Conflict-of-Interest-Requirements.pdf …

Basically what he’s doing. Spend $300m on Trump attack ads to save $9B. Can’t beat that ROI

He wants to be president. Campaigning is exhausting and a distraction from money making. If he just was doing it for the money he’d cut a 50 million dollar check or two on the condition that he be nominated. Would save a lot of money, time and energy.
