I read recently that 70% of MBAs change jobs w/in 2 yrs of graduation. If true, career svcs and the programs themselves are doing a poor job of helping students to map out what they really want and how to get it. Big recruiters are treated as the customer instead of students.

I read in Seymour Schulich’s Get Smart that MBAs 1-2 years out of school are terrible hires. They think they’re masters of the universe who know business when they don’t. That’s been my experience as well. That may well figure into the turnover rate.

Perhaps, though that hasn’t been my experience. Those people are out there, but most of the ones I know are kind, thoughtful, curious and, like most of us, want to use their talents to pursue a cause or challenge that interests them and where their contribution matters.

Maybe it’s more prevalent amongst top tier schools? I really can’t think of anyone who got an mba at one of those who wasn’t business arrogant 1-2 years after graduating.
