I think the word “need” here is the key issue. Despite raising hundreds of millions and in some cases billions, some of these private unicorns are still far from profitability with still questionable unit economics. Indeed it is. Financially disciplined late stage companies are in a position of strength - as are newly public companies who are rapidly becoming financially disciplined.
Many of the companies we thought were unicorns are actually narwhals. They’re underwater.

In my dictionary "Startup" : do Innovative thing in less fund. Because if start-up need more fund then it's better let big existing corporate spend more money fund and they will goona do better... Because they have experience how to make profit out.. new unicorns don't know...
