Incompetence and fear of failure (not bankruptcy!) prevented me from taking full advantage. People raise money because it’s the thing to do. They chase press instead of customers. Bootstrapping works and it oftentimes pays you more.

I'm totally in agreement, btw - my ecom venture (now that I've pivoted away from FBA) is fully bootstrapped after my own initial investment and I own 100% of it. I wouldn't have it any other way I just didn't see how a mattress box co like

Casper no, but that’s because of the strategy they selected as you pointed out. They didn’t have to have a Nyc store, ads everywhere, etc
