I had the foresight. I just didn’t select my category well and didn’t bet hard enough. Also in 2014 I was a lot worse at business.

But therein lies the difficulty of a monumental bootstrapped success - the "betting hard enough" part, right?

Incompetence and fear of failure (not bankruptcy!) prevented me from taking full advantage. People raise money because it’s the thing to do. They chase press instead of customers. Bootstrapping works and it oftentimes pays you more.
