Just curious: what probability are you placing on this going full Walking Dead on us? I'll tell you mine: Less than 0.001%.

Hard to say, but almost zero. I think the closest Walking Dead like outcome would be looting in some U.S. cities. With that said, there's a decent chance that 2020 will prove to be the worst year in the developed world since WW2.

I wish I was reasonably good at predicting our economy. I would be very rich and not have to work that hard! But, for now, I'm content to suck at it and work on easier problems. :-)

I'm wise enough to know that I can't predict the economy either. With that said, on 9/12/2001, you knew that there would be negative consequences; you just didn't know the magnitude.

You might like this podcast. Sam Zell credibly claims he can predict the economy:https://twitter.com/Molson_Hart/status/1223467167691300864 …

Also, for me, I'm just predicting the economy. I have suppliers in China. I'm also trying to work out what will happen to orders I have on deposit.

I'm *not just predicting the economy (which I know I cannot do with any accuracy).

Maybe I've just lived through so many of these media scares that I no longer take them seriously: AIDS, Ebola, SARS, Superflu, Killer Bees, Ozone Hole, Y2K, killer hurricanes and the list goes on and on.

I totally agree that media sensationalism/coverage and severity of news are weakly correlated. They're like the boy who cried wolf. I'm not listening to the media, just look at what China is doing (i.e. quarantining new cities) and ex-China infection stats.

Yeah, hard to know what stats to believe. I have seen the Chinese routinely underinvest before there's a scandal and then go nuts (publicly) to save face when the scandal is exposed to Beijing. Not surprised if that's going on here. Who knows.
