Transit conductor assaults are an epidemic, as is farebeating, panhandling, etc. This can make transit unpleasant. Which is why I like proof-of-payment: while checking fares, cops can also walk the vehicle to police bad behavior.

Fare-beating isn't just about lost revenue. It's about the type of people it ends up putting on the trains. I'd bar up those entrances so you can't hop the turnstile.

Should we treat parking scofflaws the same way we treat transit scofflaws? Lost parking revenue exceeds lost transit revenue so why the lenient treatment for drivers? Why not arrest them too.
