      You been there? It’s pretty bleak. And if you try to walk to downtown you have to walk through a very very high crime area.

      Main Street after midtown park on the way into downtown, particularly around the bus station is full of crime and homeless. Doesn’t clear up until about 3 blocks after the underpass. Downtown Houston while better than Dallas is pretty bad compared to chi, sf, nyc, dc, Boston, etc

      Hop on the red line at McGowan and hop back off at the transit center or Bell. Problem solved.

      I saw the cops and the drugs and the people passed out from taking too many drugs. I saw the dealers. You’re insane for biking in Texas. You will get hit.” By a pickup and possibly die. People don’t know how to drive with bikes and pedestrians here and they don’t care.

      To me the area isn't even that bad. It's about what you can expect in any city, especially around a greyhound station.
