When I think about lawsuits I think about two things: 1. Liability, i.e. was something done wrong? 2. Damages, i.e. if something was done wrong, what was the harm? I think "pedo guy" has suffered damages. I'll always think of him as "pedo guy", and I'm sure he suffered some abuse from Musk's overzealous cultists. I wouldn't want to go through what he did and be forced into litigation to clear my name.
Perhaps there should be statutory damages for libel/slander (don't know if there are), i.e. a flat rate fine. Hard to argue when you've been harmed when you're getting speaking engagements:pic.twitter.com/4Nsj4y3xoN

We don't know the counterfactual scenario where Musk didn't brand him "pedo guy". He might have made a lot more money. It's unlikely all this attention has helped him in any way.
