Just FYI, it costs more to move a container by truck from Miami to Jacksonville than it does to move it from shanghai to Los Angeles

Big boat, many containers, big engine very efficient, doesn’t need much labor, cheap fuel, lower insurance etc. Vs. 1 driver, 1 container small engine, etc It’s like building a single family home vs. a 200 unit building.

Also doesn’t work. Trains within the USA can efficiently move gravel, corn, oil etc but it’s tough with manufactured goods. There needs to be a rail siding (spur) at both pickup and delivery location. Otherwise, train from Miami to Jacksonville means: Truck => Train => Truck
