ConvenientMD urgent care centers and the like are usually much better about this than ERs. Also they usually will see you much more quickly.
I fell off my longboard and thought I broke my arm. I didn’t have insurance. In the emergency room, they repeatedly refused to tell me how much it would cost to get an x-ray. Repeatedly. After being able to get an accurate price and googling the cost (around $5k) I went to private practice and got everything done for about $150.
