NYC, which takes bulk of NYS’ education budget, is now at $34BN a year or roughly $34K per student! But w < 50% grade level proficient & ~35% proficiency for black / Hispanic students. There is mismanagement, corruption, fraud that need to be investigated.

Is there gross mismanagement and waste at nyced? Yes. But the thing is, these kids spend 17 hours in broken homes and only 7 at school. Hard to fix that.

Give these children the tools they need to get an education which will help them break the cycle their families have been in..give them the support to better themselves to become productive adults...if not, like you said, that is wasted time spent..

I am not expecting
@NYCSchools to fix broken homes...but I do expect them to level the playing field when they enter a school..no matter the home they come from..can't afford private tutoring because parents are working..busy..or just don't care?Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The problem also is that we maintain those broken homes from becoming more. The housing (which is also mismanaged) needs to give the people reasons to better themselves not for them to stay stuck in that live style. Housing and education is what is bringing everything down
