Mexico is inching towards becoming a failed state. If Mexico were willing, it might be politically and economically wise for Trump to go to war against the Cartels in Mexico.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-12-03/is-it-safe-to-travel-to-san-miguel-mexico-2019 …
What about Singapore and China? Drug possession is instant execution. A war torn hell’s cape?

When I was in Shanghai I got offered drugs all the time. I don’t think execution has worked

Hard to say but they have lower rates of addiction than we do and they at one time has it worse (opium wars). What was the ratio of Chinese to non Chinese drug dealers? Latter has less to lose.

FTR you can get drugs in Singapore (not recommending obviously) and you don't get executed for small possession, only for trader quantities. It might not be just about the laws but people having the option to make a living other ways. In SGP its easy to make money legally.

Another guy was saying that NAFTA contributed to the problem as it wiped out the chance to make money on small scale farms in meixco by removing trade barriers to high scale American farms. This created labor supply without anything to do...they went into drug trafficking.

Has the US “declared war” on Chinese Drug trade? That’s the comparison you’re proposing. Let’s kill a bunch of people and still pay them billions for something. I think others will still want the billions
