Often it boils down to people not being able to tell the difference between X happens vs X is typical vs it is (not) productive to think X.
Not sure what you mean. Are you saying that if the quotes tweet were right 50%+ of the time it still would be counterproductive to think so?

I do think that though thats only half of what i meant. They can happen 10% of the time and some people would still mistakenly thought its typical (because of limited sample or sensationalism).

Or because it gives them less cognitive dissonance than accepting that their choices are a bigger determinant of success than any of those 7 erroneously cited reasons.
