I was at the Canton Fair and there was a Shenyang Trading Company selling a product that we buy from another supplier. I said "you make this yourself in Shenyang?" - They said yes, but were smiling nervously. I said "All the factories that make this are in Jiangsu or Zhejiang"

After I said this a couple more times, they admitted that they were lying earlier. Sad day for Shenyang and Manchuria. 东北也有说谎人

“Smiling nervously” means they were very bad liars. Their novicehood means they don’t usually lie. But I do admit that ripping off laowai is a prevalent Chinese culture. Fluent Mandarin helps tho.
