Mozambique has a nice location for a port. China offers a loan to build a terminal there, requiring that the loan be used with a Chinese co. Mozambique fails to pay the loan. China seizes the terminal. What happens if Mozambique nationalizes the terminal owned by China?
If the PLA effectively invades to defend their terminal would it not be a violation of international law?

I don’t think international law really matters, only whether China would actually be willing and able to project force like that. I don’t think they’re either, in this case. Much less Piraeus Port and others.

I think this debt trap diplomacy thing is American propaganda. The idea that taking a loan to build infrastructure in your country is somehow “bad” is ridiculous. Africa needs to develop and China is stepping up.
