I don’t know much about how Chinese politics works, but America already ha broken up. That’s the point of the states, which to me, seem to have much greater autonomy than the provinces of China. US states seem to be more different than Chinese provinces.
This is probably one thing that US politically does much better than China.

I do wish the states had much more autonomy than they currently do. The power of the states at this point in time is really limited to taxes and regulation, which is one of the reasons why the Southern states are growing so quickly.

However, Washington today controls way, way too much and the inability to control borders renders the states somewhat meaningless over the long term. Perhaps Europe will be able to get right what we got so wrong.
