I’d like to believe that much of the great but controversial content on twitter seems to go unnoticed because, while it is appreciated by many, the courage to like or retweet it is lacking. I hope one day the silent majority rises up and smacks pc culture upside the head.

Sure. I can think of some accounts like
@thespandrell or @1984to1776 or even@realDonaldTrump that say both very insightful but also controversial things. I don’t agree with everything they write, but I follow. following or retweeting their non controversial tweets is a liability1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Yes, fairly or not there's often a Guilt By Association triggered by such Rt's or likes ..
