What percent of academic papers are worth reading? What percent of summaries of academic papers are worth reading? I’m very skeptical of the value of this advice in a whole bunch of ways.https://twitter.com/david_perell/status/1195944940116828161 …

I think the advice is for academics, you'd be on the other end of it. It's basically marketing, his and your incentives are not the same.

I don't think it's for academics. Silicon Valley loves to smart-signal and that is most likely what this is for. As for his incentives and mine? I think they're actually pretty similar. We're both trying to build an audience on Twitter and elsewhere though he's better at it.

Ah so you are skeptical as in it's not worth copying his sales methods for yourself. I misunderstood you, I thought you meant his advice is wrong because he's pushing useless products.

I'm rereading your tweet, maybe you meant both.

1. I don't think he knows what he's talking about, except perhaps with writing. 2. Doing what he's suggesting is not likely to work (especially if it's done by many) and even if it did, it's mostly valueless for society unless you could somehow suss out which studies were good.
