Gleaning from the data present in the link, India produces 3403$/ton of CO2 , USA : 3217$/ton of CO2 and China : 1819$/ ton of CO2. If that isn't a measure of competence I don't know what is.

Helps to: 1. Have massive amounts of low wage workers 2. Have a very weak manufacturing industry 3. Have a very strong outsourcing/non-hardware tech industry GDP per capita, HDI, stuff like that are all better.

China has a pretty significant religious minority population and many languages/dialects just like India. I don’t know enough about India, but I think it’s more a system of government, culture, and not having the right policies problem.

That’s assuming data belted out by China is accurate. While i admire these great big scary charts, helps to always have a healthy sense of scepticism on things such as these. Given India’s overall + per capita consumption patterns vs OECD countries, need to dive deep into data
