I travel a lot. This is my checklist for how to fly. Did I miss anything? I've crossed out travel credit cards because I believe that they are more trouble than they're worth and recently demand has exceeded supply resulting in long lines at many airport lounges.pic.twitter.com/Rg9sC6ebDA

Get a Chase Sapphire card instead of airline mileage cards. You will have banked mileage in a single spot rather than divided, and the miles are then transferable to many airlines rather than locked in to one. Plus you get a bonus on hotels and food in addition to miles.

Used to have it. Got rid of it. Priority Pass is fucked. One time we tried to get the trip insurance for a missed flight and it was absolute hell. I'd rather just have a cashback card.

I don't have the Reserve. Just the regular. Cheaper fee, I get the lounges by holding status on a foreign airline so that all my travel is "foreign", and get a ton of value out of British Airs award partner pricing for US domestic travel.

Curious, which airline card perks do you find most valuable? I'm dumping status this year as loyalty devaluation and Basic Economy pricing strategy has made it worthless.

I'm not good at this at all. I just buy everything on Kayak. I don't have status. I travel to a lot of different places and find it better to use multiple airlines. That's why I got a mileage card for all. Whenever I have enough mileage for a flight I spend it ASAP.

Gotcha. Here's a good link to the foreign status approach. Gives you lounge access anywhere in the world outside the ME, witj more favorable thresholds to obtain status than many airlines.https://thepointsguy.com/2017/02/earn-star-alliance-gold-egyptair/ …
