I find interesting that the market has room for multiple luxury car companies but only one luxury laptop (Apple). Has a Windows PC laptop making company not tried releasing a Lexus to their Toyota, i.e. a high margin, high quality product?

Lenovo/Dell both have laptops in the >3k price range.

Microsoft tried with their first-party Surface books. Thinkpads were once well regarded, although it has slipped a bit since IBM spun off the division. Then there's all the ridiculous "gamer-grade" stuff like Alienware...
