Hong Kong's global value has been based on three things: 1. Reliable, understandable legal system 2. Tax-haven policies 3. Gateway to trade with China and to a lesser extent trade with Asia
China is the gateway to the China market today. I'm not saying PRC should be blamed for protests, but they should be blamed for the loss of confidence in 1 and 2. China is always trying to make 1 country 2 systems into 1 country 1 system.

Agreed. There should been reflection for Beijing to take. But the current HK riots simply prevents this from happening. This has become a proxy war between the western nations and PRC. There should be but no one is talking "where it went wrong?"
