Very interesting thread on generational changes in children according to teachers who've been teaching for decades. I was most surprised to learn that recent students are LESS tech savvy than millennials not MORE, as they are phone instead of comp native.https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/dkid96/teachersprofessors_of_reddit_what_is_the/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share …

Interesting. Phone vs comp is good point, another possibility is previous generation more producers vs later consumers mainly.

Don't get your meaning. I was wondering how much of it was different upbringing according to cultural heritage. America's youth are quite different from our working age population.pic.twitter.com/CrIgCwcDP6

Something like when we were going up with computers we spent more time creating things with it like coding, design work etc as opposed to just playing or using apps someone else created.

Think about it like this: in 1930 everyone who owned a car had to be a mechanic to some extent. Now cars are more complex and there's a bigger service industry around it so it's lo longer necessary or even feasible. Same might be happening with computers.

Got it now. The teachers in the Reddit suggested this as a possible explanation for the decline in tech skills.
