Something like when we were going up with computers we spent more time creating things with it like coding, design work etc as opposed to just playing or using apps someone else created.

Think about it like this: in 1930 everyone who owned a car had to be a mechanic to some extent. Now cars are more complex and there's a bigger service industry around it so it's lo longer necessary or even feasible. Same might be happening with computers.
