Why doesn't the United States deploy the US military forces in the middle east to the south side of Chicago, Baltimore, and East St. Louis? Notwithstanding the oil, doesn't that seem like a better ROI?

Argument goes like this: Armies are machines to do war. Deploying them as police doesn’t work
Ehhh, maybe. I've seen some videos of soldiers in Iraq learning the necessity of respecting the people as many police officers do.
