Yesterday I was overcharged $800 at a restaurant, more than double the correct bill. This happens all the time across multiple industries. Why? - Americans can't do math? - Non-confrontational culture and fear of bargaining encourages overbilling? - Laziness? - Dishonesty?
>I've seen people just go along here. Don't know what the situation is in Europe, but I've only ever seen that happen in the U.S.

I think it happens but maybe less often and you don't have these social games attached to it. Like if you catch them they pretend it was a mistake and that's it.

It's interesting that the world's MVP country for the past 100 years can have these pockets of stupidity yet still succeed in so many areas. Just need to get the main things right I guess.

It won't happen to you in a restaursnt but I have heard it in discos. That they charge you 70 euros instead of 7€ the drink. Or also I have heard they do it also in pubs when there is a group drinkg and every of them ask for something different. They add 2 drinks more

once I was in Orlando, I wanted to pay and then I had to write down on the ticket how much tip plus my signature. It was 5 years ago but I think they did the final charge to the bank In europe you say how much you want to pay (price + tip) and the bring the payment terminal.

They bring the paymemt terminal, use contactless card.. add your "pin" if needed. So they may play with the nuber in a disco if you are too drunk. But I have just heard about it. Never happend to me
