Did you grow up rich or in a two parent household? I don’t know how else you could explain such a facile understanding of poverty.

Was snarky, but I stand by it. A significant proportion of our population lives in self reinforcing negative feedback loops. Some people are beyond repair, but enough are not to deserve help.

I mostly disagree here. Having at points in my life been frightened about how little money I had, having some extra cash to remove that stress would have done wonders for health, happiness, and further economic opportunity

It's an experiment that's worth exploring. The test is to see if that same logic of having a bit of extra money on hand for those that could really use it on practical stuff applies on average to most people. I like your take on selecting a city as controlled experiments

I don't think you outright saying it sucks is helpful though, especially since as you acknowledge UBI hasn't been tried on bigger scale in the US (Alaska is a weird example and I think Yang is eventually gonna be called out on it)

Me saying it sucks is not helpful. I agree. Sometimes I write my tweets like a journalist writes a headline (click-bait-y). Fair point re: stress, however, you got through it right? I do agree that stress inhibits your ability to solve life's problems but stress also comes down

over time. I'm not sure, we, as human beings are meant to live life without stress. Anyways, why is Alaska a bad example? Is it because the dividend is too low to make a difference? FWIW, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Permanent_Fund …pic.twitter.com/t9Gl9yYN7u

i don't know who would argue stress is totally bad or good. too much stress is severely inhibiting, though, leading to irrational choice and UBI is at least an option here. alaska isn't a terrible example, but i don't think it represents the clear case he presents it as
