I think he/his situation is a useful datapoint. He was vilified, only to later learn that the Native American man had himself engaged in "racism" ("blackface" halloween costume).

It's very simple. Regardless of whether you are a child, if what you have to say is consistent of the narrative a media outlet wants to promote, you will get coverage. If it is not consistent, provided it is not newsworthy or controversial, you will not get coverage.

I have 5+ major newspaper quotations, a podcast, and TV appearance that backs this up. Why? Because what I had to say was consistent with what they wanted to say.
