While I basically trust your one-word answer more than myself, I remain skeptical. Very few cases in humans. Since we know so little about the brain, it could be misdiagnosis.

Real. If it were fake, the whole cattle industry would've fought back hard about the science.

For years we've been hearing that red meat causes cancer and heart disease and I'm pretty sure it's just been a selection bias problem (people willing to eat red meat had an overall less healthy lifestyle). Beef industry has failed to combat this.
