If humanity were destroyed by nuclear war or a man-made biological weapon would it be the first ever species to destroy itself as opposed to being destroyed by another species or external circumstance like a meteor or disease?

This is cool as hell but I doubt that they were able to grow these massive antlers if that subsequently was what killed them. More likely, they were killed by humans for meat, like many other megafauna?pic.twitter.com/B00bdc3sKz
