I'm a big chess player and I'm kind of skeptical about this. When you're playing a tournament, it's often difficult to find time to eat a proper meal. Heavy meals make your thinking worse as well, so they're to be avoided. Fwiw, over-the-board chess is way more energy intensive

than online or on-screen chess. After 4 hours of chess in person I am totally exhausted. After 4 hours of chess online I might be tired, but not nearly as much. I don't know if it requires more energy to look at 3-d pieces or if my arms get tired moving them, but it's real.
