I'm probably the least SJW type you will meet, but as someone who has worked with people with developmental challenges I can think of a dozen or so words you could have used besides that one. I'm not offended nor screaming in outrage. Just sayin it as a point of info.

Thanks. You're right. The word I chose is insensitive. I care about the mentally-handicapped and I empathasize with them. That said, I think our society is going overboard with the "can't this word or that word" stuff, so I'm going to stick to it.
