I thought social media is moving away from this type of feedback, like IG talking about hiding number of likes

yeah maybe there are second order effects that i'm missing here and it would kill the platform because everyone would become so timid to post.

I'm sure there are third party analytic suites that provide that info. I think it would worsen the quality of Twitter if it became widespread as people would overreact to follower changes and become duller, less authentic.
-
That's the commonly accepted wisdom. In email marketing you get to see the unsubscribes. Today, brands sell less and tell stories more, to maintain interest. On Facebook you can't see follower counts and no one posts but crazies. No one wants authentic me. They want value.

That would be useful but how would you know it? Like last tweet you saw from X before hitting unfollow?
-
I bet most unfollowing is done through the feed, not through the profile. See screenshot.pic.twitter.com/SrPQPBhBtG

They are probably missing out on some not-insignificant revenue. People would pay for those kinds of analytics, and it should be trivial to instrument - I'm sure they already do for AB testing. Although maybe not... Maybe corporate Twitter accounts have this already.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
