Attacking people’s jobs for how an outsider interprets their views is one of those bad practices that only has a chance of going away if it starts being applied to the people who currently see their position as that of judge and jury, and never as the defendant.

For what it is worth, this is also a case where resigning was stupid (in our modern age, orgs act as their own executioners in media show trials) and whoever at DOL thought it was a good idea just showed their weakness and should expect future attempted hit pieces.

I am guessing that pre-written undated resignation letters are becoming more common, but they shouldn’t be something a rational person agrees to for reasons that this episode demonstrates.
