For what it is worth, this is also a case where resigning was stupid (in our modern age, orgs act as their own executioners in media show trials) and whoever at DOL thought it was a good idea just showed their weakness and should expect future attempted hit pieces.

I don't know the particulars of the story, but Leif needed to stand up for himself, not just for himself, but for everyone else who is targeted by false and irrelevant allegations.

I am guessing that pre-written undated resignation letters are becoming more common, but they shouldn’t be something a rational person agrees to for reasons that this episode demonstrates.

Would the president have to have made the call to "force" the resignation? Hard for me to believe that he would in this case, given his past comments, fairly portrayed or not.
