If you take economic opportunity and taxes out of the equation, I've never been to a city in Europe that wasn't world's better than every city in the US (perhaps with the exception of NY) in every single way. I even prefer living in most Chinese cities.

I mean landscape/walkability wise yes (and i think you're right that's mostly bc US cities were built after/for cars). But I also prefer the people in the US in some ways, waaay easier to make friends here (getting jobs too once you're over the legal status barrier).

Easier to make friends or buddies/acquaintances? Depends a lot on the state imho. People in Texas are pretty insular I find, generally.
