Enterprise software: I'll fix this bad bug today, no sweat. Customer: Yeah... we're going to have to wait six weeks for a change window and get sign-offs in triplicate from eight different departments before we can put it into the QA lab instance.
Software: What a cool idea! I'll roll it out to my customers right now! Hardware: I am so looking forward to 25% of our inventory reflecting this change in 6-9 months.

Software is only true recently with web based services. E.g. windows/ibm 10/20y ago: we will release the fix in the next version maybe a year or so.
