This is really a hot take. But no, not within the modern American context. TFW my great grandfather, his father and grandfather were all soybean farmers. They owned 900 acres of land in Nong’an county near Changchun. We grew soybeans but we didn’t consume much of the soybean product. We grew and sold soybeans as a commodity. Just imagine soybean farmers in the state of Iowa or so, we were their predecessors.
