American team sports make you a better leader, manager, and coworker. My parents were immigrants from New Zealand and Quebec, Canada. We had no tradition of team sports in my family. This put me at a disadvantage in the workplace and I had to work hard to compensate for it.

The amount of time Americans dedicate in school to team sports (and group work) over individualistic academic pursuits looks crazy to many other countries, but it has its benefits.
