Yeah thats for sure, in fact it probably already does. 5 billion usd sounds about right, 10% of the jobs is 30-40k ppl making 100-200 a year on average.

But honestly, I am totally unqualified to answer this. I wouldn't be surprised if Google could do a better job just by laying bad engineers off, instead of opening new offices.

According to company legend google could have the revenue stream it has with 10% of the engineers. The only counterargument i have is you need the 90% to do random shit to hit upon the new adwords once in every decade.
